Ayr Races 31/07/2023 – Ayr race course
RACE.1. COMMENTS.
RED ZONE HERO (3) could take some stopping. Built on a promising debut effort at Windsor when runner-up to a decent yardstick at Yarmouth and will likely be a short price to go one better here.
KNICKS (2) may bounce back to the form of his debut third at Ripon with first-time cheekpieces fitted while newcomer
JUNGLE JEAN (5) requires a check in the betting. MILLIETHEMOLLIE (6) heads the remainder.
RACE.2. COMMENTS.
SEE MY BABY JIVE (6) arrives in excellent condition and may continue her winning streak. The seven-year-old completed a course and distance hat-trick last start and can win again under a penalty to remain unbeaten in blinkers.
KATS BOB (3) would be going close if replicating the run he produced when second over 1200m at Hamilton last month.
The generally consistent CARIBBEAN SUNSET (4) will likely feature following a third-placed finish behind the main selection three weeks ago while ZEGOS SURPRISE (8) makes for each-way appeal.
RACE.3. COMMENTS.
NOVAK (2) looked to have more scoring over 1200m here last month. Can complete the four-timer with a step up to 1400m no problem.
GAINSBOURG (5) won a similar handicap tackling 1600m at this venue last start sporting blinkers for the first time and commands consideration under his penalty.
CLASSY AL (6) could go close if running to the same form that saw him finish second over course and distance on penultimate outing while BLACK FRIDAY (7) holds each-way claims.
RACE.4. COMMENTS.
This could go the way of the progressive CHRISZOFF (2) who is trained by Archie Watson and looked well ahead of his mark making a successful handicap debut over course and distance. A 3kg rise is unlikely to stop him from following up.
KNOCKBREX (1) has been well beaten the past two outings but needs to be included down in grade while the unexposed
PADDY THE SQUIRE (4) was a short-head runner-up on his handicap debut at Pontefract and also must be respected. SOPHIESTICATE (3) looks next best.
RACE.5. COMMENTS.
Jim Goldie and Paul Mulrennan teamed up to land this last season and they combine once more with AYR POET (5). He often runs well at this venue and could prove capable of going one better than when second tackling track and trip a week ago.
CAMACHO STAR (10) can remain competitive after being raised in the weights for winning over 1400m at Catterick last-time-out
while narrow Musselburgh (1600m) runner-up YEAH (7) is considered with conditions to suit. Each-way claims go the way of FIFTY SENT (4).
RACE.6. COMMENTS.
SKI ANGEL (7) took a step forward when third on handicap debut tackling track and trip a week back. Consider with further progress anticipated.
SIXCOR (2) will likely be in contention on the back of a good third over this distance at Musselburgh six days ago.
Similar comments apply to BONITO CAVALO (4) who was also third at Musselburgh in latest and cannot be left out of the equation despite remaining a longstanding maiden. Stablemate GENEVIEVE (5) completes the shortlist.
