RACE.1. COMMENTS.
ROUSSILLON (1) resumed a gelding when a fast finishing winner over 1100m at Gosford on July13. Ran good time on that occasion and stable have always had a good opinion of this bloke. Can take the next step this time in.
EPIC PROPORTIONS (2) has race fitness on his side after doing all the early work before collared late by the smart Cigar Flick, when second over 1100m at Randwick on July 8. This track suits and will give them something to catch with the claim.
ARCHO NACHO (3) progressive gelding at his top now third up. Struck trouble in running before motoring late with a close up second over 1000m at Flemington on July 15. Can run slick sectionals and sure to be strong late.
PRINZERRO (5) resuming from a spell of three months for the Stokes yard. Started hard in the market on debut when a close up nose second over 1000m at Sandown-Hillside on April 29. Two jump-out wins have been strong and must be kept safe.
RACE.2. COMMENTS.
MALABOOM (1) speedy type who won the Calaway Gal LR at Eagle Farm last December before resuming with a gritty on pace third over 1000m at Caulfield on June 24. Kept up to the mark with a dominant trial win at Moruya over 920m on July 14. Fitter now and looks exceptional each way value from the draw.
OUTBACK MISS (2) remains unbeaten after two starts. Sent straight to town at second start before stalking the speed from the wide gate and accelerating away inside final 150m when scoring over 1000m at Caulfield on June 24. Up in weight today and the wide gate the only query.
SPICY MARGS (3) resumed for second prep with a dominant on pace win over 1100m at Caulfield on July 8. Got all the breaks from the inside gate last start but will need luck from the poor draw today.
ESTRIELLA (6) well bred I Am Invincible filly who rounded them up effortlessly on debut over 1100m at Gosford on June 22. This much tougher but showed a touch of class on that occasion and must be kept safe.
RACE.3. COMMENTS.
HARD TO CROSS (1) at his top now and has excellent figures this course and distance. Taken right back from the wide gate when 11th over 1700m at Flemington on July 15. Drops sharply in weight for this and can sit off them and pounce late with the good early tempo anticipated.
ANOTHER WIL (7) relished the heavy (9) going at second race start when a dominant 5 len winner over 1614m at Moe on July 6. Looks to have plenty of upside and will take catching again with the claim.
ELSIE MAY (3) former New Zealand trained filly who appreciated the extra trip second up when a gritty winner over 1600m at Sandown-Lakeside on July 5. Another down sharply in weight who looks destined for better things.
HE’LL RIP (6) stretches out to the mile for the first time after disappointing when seventh over 1400m at Flemington on July 15. Shinn takes the ride today and not to be underestimated.
RACE.4. COMMENTS.
SUPERSTOCK (5) struck trouble in the run before unleashing a big finish from well back to run a sound 1.5 lens second over 1700m at Geelong on July 14. Should have finished much closer last start and gets the services of the in form Blake Shinn today. Will be strong again late over the 2040m.
SO SLEEK (4) broke his maiden status three runs back and latest efforts over the 2000m in town have been first rate. Gets a senior rider on here and maps well from the draw.
GOTTABESAVVY (1) stable in form and looks well placed with the claim. Ran on late with the 60kg when a tough third over 2400m at Caulfield on July 22. Quick back up suits and not to underestimated.
MAGNASPIN (3) desperately due for a change of luck and gives the impression he should be able to get the 2000m. Williams takes the ride today from an inside gate and should figure prominently.
RACE.5. COMMENTS.
FLASH FLOOD (5) undefeated this track and chasing his third straight victory today. Stretches out to the 2040m for the first time after finishing hard from well back when a narrow winner over 1700m at Caulfield on July 8. Hefel rides again with the claim and the stable look to have found the key to him. Up to the rise in grade.
FLASH FEELING (7) two wins from four starts this trip and no surprise to see him improve sharply today after drifting back and disappointing when ninth at Flemington over 2000m on July 15. Can race closer from the gate here and take a hand in the finish.
Group 1 placegetter MILFORD (1) is due for a change of luck after finishing in the minor money at his last three outings. Failed narrowly when 0.1 len second to Young Werther over 2000m at Flemington on July 15. Shinn back on is a big plus. Respect.
Group 3 winner IRISH FLAME (6) is terribly out of form but has a good record this track and trip. Latest trial was okay and could sneak into the minor money.
RACE.6. COMMENTS.
CLAIDHEAMH MOR (3) consistent on pace stayer who won well two back in this grade over 2100m at Sandown (L) on June 28. Back in class but anchored with the 63kg when a fighting third over 2100m at Sandown-Lakeside on July 12. Looks well placed this track and should be in this for a long way.
GOLIOTUS (5) has a 2400m win to his credit and bounced back to form when a dominant 2.75 len winner over 2050m at Murtoa on July 15. Will stalk the speed from the good gate and should figure prominently.
JAYKAYANN (11) progressive staying mare with four wins from eight starts. Kept fresh for this after disappointing as fav when fifth over 2400m at Sandown-Hillside on June 10. Kept up to the mark when second in a searching 1430m trial at Traralgon on July 19. Sharp improvement expected.
FUNAMBULIST (16) Neasham trained stayer who gets back in his races and needs plenty of luck. Trip no problem and has each way prospects.
RACE.7. COMMENTS.
Group 3 winner ROYAL MILE (11) resumed with an encouraging seventh after making good ground late from a wide draw over 1200m at Flemington on July 15. Has solid second up form and goes well at the mile with no weight.
FRENCH EMPEROR (14) at his top now fifth up and drawn to get total control of the race today. Taken back from a wide draw when a disappointing 12th over 1700m at Caulfield on July 8. No shock to see him take this out with Hefel’s claim.
Group 3 placegetter PASCERO (12) stretches out to the mile for the second time after mixing his form this time in. Go on strong win at Randwick two back when finishing hard with the 60kg over 1400m. On the limit here and good enough to take this out.
CHIEF ALTONY (10) racing well this time in and no excuses here fifth up. Loomed up to win when second over 1700m at Caulfield on July 8. Williams takes the ride and will be hitting the line late again.
RACE.8. COMMENTS.
LIEVORE (12) near her top now third up and both wins have come at this trip. Had to work hard from the wide gate and the early effort took its toll when fifth over 1600m at Flemington on July 15. Big jockey change today and looks good value.
ELECTRIC BELLE (2) consistent mare who will appreciate the firmer deck third up. Goes well this track and trip and gets the right tempo to take a hand in the finish.
DEFIANT DIVA (7) racing without luck and close to a win. Strong through the line when second to DELICIOUS TYCOON over this trip at Flemington on July 15. Comes out of a strong race and looks suited here.
LA ZUCCA (3) won two of her last three outings and should have little trouble stretching out to the mile today. Looked to have plenty up the sleeve when a dominant 1.5 len winner over 1400m at Sandown-Lakeside on July 5. Has genuine prospects.
RACE.9. COMMENTS.
PEREILLE (14) progressive Godolphin gelding at his top for this. Caught the eye late over the unsuitable trip when third over 1000m at Sandown-Hillside at latest. Shinn takes the ride today and the jockey/trainer combo are striking well. Looks the one to beat over the 1200m.
JUST JAKE (3) firmer track helps today and will appreciate the big class drop. Never appeared comfortable in the soft (7) going when eighth over 1200m at Caulfield on June 24. Can sit on the speed from the gate and take stopping.
LORD DOMINO (9) two runs back have been okay and best figures have him right in this. Can sneak into the minor money.
DEPRIVATION (10) track specialist with excellent first up figures. Two recent jump-outs were strong and expected to go to the front and prove hard to beat.
